Doctors receiving flak

I don’t believe doctors are bad, i just think doctors are victims of their own foolishness. Why their profession receives flak these days where as earlier they were revered as gods is because doctors have resigned their contemplative minds to the crazy- busy- demanding lifestyle of their profession. Today, a doctor believes in the medical representative more than his own father. When there is a toothache, a newer, stronger painkiller may sound more feasible than a pithy piece of clove which an old parent suggests mainly because we are in a result driven society. And pain hinders our movements and compromises our day to day living for a while. So the patients feed this demand fopr a quick-fix remedy.Pain is an unwanted side-effect of our living. Yet, in truth, Gautama Buddha said, life is suffering. Who do we then believe—a saint or the friendly neighbourhood doctor? By avoiding any sort of suffering are we evolving into a species with zero tolerance? Somehow it   seems,

MId-life Blues

Obesity And Depression in mid-life Mid life comes in with mid-riff expansion for most of us. Why? Is there a psychological connect between weight gain and mid-life blues? Possibly yes. To "let go" is a chareteristic of most middle aged people. At this age we are confronted with reality of our puny existence, overwhelmed by our past ridiculous assumption that we are invincible and brought down to earth by an opening of the third eye vision with which we see just how pathetic our lives are. So we just 'let go'. When we let go , our posture changes to a slump, our outlook grows numb, our mood changes to a grump and our metabolic work-out is considerably reduced but proportionately our calorie intake is increased. A depressed outlook causes inactivity or addictions to mindless activities like watching TV or facebooking or habitual working on a stationary job. On the other hand, we draw comfort from food in order to excite our brain cells--ie we hog to clear the

The Schizoid Phenomenon

In olden days, famous schizophrenics were Gods and God’s messengers, or God’s most sincere followers. Reading the book of genesis might lead you to believe that God is an alien. He lives somewhere far out in space, in a place called heaven . Sitting there, he one day devised a plan to create a new world. So, poof! Earth was created and with it came its inhabitants, of which man was the most favoured(indigenous) creation. Writers and philosophers who had a direct link to God consciousness, could believe themselves as God’s messengers who wrote the story of genesis and made each one of the ancient men and women believers in the concept of an Alien God who played the puppeteer to every living thing and non-living thing in the world . So Adam and Eve’s story was penned down in simple words and shows how the puppeteer set down the rules and regulations for us to follow. While the real puppeteer is only a concept, the story writer became his messenger and the de facto puppeteer who

ALLERGIES--HAY FEVER

Hay Fever Hay fever is an allergic disease with or without slight fever, runny nose, sneezing followed by stuffiness and dry throat feeling. It happens in time for arrival of spring when flowers and grass shed pollen abd dander. So, early February is usually the time for hay fever. With winter receding and spring beginning we are in rotten moods because we were stuck up in homes during harsh winters or feeling lethargic because of the chill, cozying up in blankies. Out comes the budding flowers and infest our houses with dander and pollen, leaving us sore and stuffy. In expectation of relief we venture outdoors and our symptoms worsen.   Therefore, ideally, we should rest in our houses with the AC on to filter out any allergen if we are suffering from hay fever and not to forget, take an anti-allergen medicine. Psychological connection is hard to establish but, like I mentioned earlier, it is our desire to live life fully in competition with the nature blossoming and sheddin
Foot pains Foot pain can be categorized according to their location as toe pains, front foot pains or back-foot(heel and ankle) pains. Toe pains : Corns, calluses, bunions, gouty arthritis are examples. Causes : ill-fitting shoes are perceived as the main cause. Gout and arthritis are systemic in nature. My supposition : We are playing roles in life that are well below our potential, either because of inferiority complexes or dumbly playing along with what people think about us. Otherwise who would like to wear shoes that rub on us and produce corns and calluses? Kids who have an inferiority complex make do with whatever is offered to them and not what they think they are capable of and therefore wear the ill-fitting shoes their parents buy for them. It is exactly the opposite of getting into shoes that is too big for the legs. They get into shoes that are too small for them. Treatment: Medical: Soak feet in warm water and gently pumice the corns and calluses. Repeat as necessary. Medi
